Learn/ Guided Meditations 3: Mindful Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice from India that can be approached as a mindfulness meditation practice. In these yoga practice the emphasis is on moving with mindfulness. The postures are gentle and simple to perform and can be done by almost anyone. The focus of the practice is to explore the edges and frontier of your limits as you move into the stretches of the posture. This is a gentle way to go deeply into your body to experience the present moment and a state of relaxation, poise, and calm. Mindful yoga can be a primary practice or it can be done in addition to sitting and walking practices. The first 10 minutes of track two is a sequence of postures that help to open the hips and can be very helpful to do each time before sitting meditation.
After learning the gentle postures in this CD, you may be inspired to try a yoga class in your community. There are 2 tracks, the first is approximately 30 minutes, and the second is approximately 40 minutes. There is also a bonus track the shows how to use bhandas or muscular energy locks to modify the mountain postures. These locks can help to transform tension and anxiety.
