Learn/ Guided Meditations 8: Lovingkindness and Forgiveness
Compassion and lovingkindness are states that can be invited and practiced. We can use our intentions and the focus of the mind to open the heart and to generate good will. In this practice, you will be guided in the traditional lovingkindness or metta meditation. In doing this practice, you will generate feelings of good will towards many different people in your life. This practice cultivates compassion, sympathetic joy, and openness towards yourself and others. In contrast to breathing meditation, the body scan and mind scan where we work with what is, lovingkindness gives us an opportunity to create an experience. Lovingkindness practice helps us to realize our interconnectedness with others and the world, and can be a potent form of practice. Closely related to lovingkindness and compassion is forgiveness. This CD includes a guided forgiveness practice directed at ourselves and others. Surrounding these tracks is the sound of a crystal singing bowl. This sound can help to bring the mind and heart into the open space for this practice.
